ABBYY is the global leader in purpose-built artificial intelligence (AI) for intelligent automation, committed to cutting through the hype surrounding AI to deliver results that organizations can trust.
Today, we're proud to share that this commitment has earned ABBYY the designation of "IDP Solution Provider of the Year" in the 2026 AI Breakthrough Awards program, conducted by leading market intelligence organization AI Breakthrough. The program draws thousands of nominations from companies around the world, all competing to be recognized for innovation and success in AI.
The reason ABBYY Document AI stands out in a crowded AI market is simple: proven results, with or without the use of large language models (LLMs) or generative AI. ABBYY develops purpose-built AI that understands and processes documents, helping organizations transform document-centric processes with speed and accuracy.
As the AI hype cycle continues, ABBYY focuses on what actually moves the needle for enterprises. Our purpose-built AI leverages over 35 years of expertise in optical character recognition (OCR), natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning (ML) to unlock the data trapped inside documents and put that information to work.
ABBYY Document AI encompasses our full suite of IDP solutions. Our tailored approach combines best-of-breed AI models and is highly optimized to ensure documents are processed accurately at each step of the document processing pipeline, no matter the complexity, industry, use case, content, or language.
With over 100 pretrained and customizable AI models, Document AI delivers the accuracy, adaptability, security, and scalability that enterprise processes demand. The deployment framework spans intake, image enhancement, OCR, classification, data extraction, validation, human-in-the-loop review, analytics, and secure output delivery.
Capabilities set ABBYY apart:
We asked Steve Johansson, managing director at AI Breakthrough, why ABBYY earned the title of IDP Solution Provider of the Year among thousands of AI innovators.
"ABBYY delivers what so many AI vendors only promise: measurable, repeatable results at enterprise scale. By combining purpose-built Document AI with the flexibility to integrate generative technology in a controlled way, ABBYY gives organizations a path to automation they can actually trust. ABBYY's proven business outcomes across industries made it the clear choice for IDP Solution Provider of the Year."
ABBYY's IDP solution is purpose-built, not experimental. In a crowded landscape, we distinguish ourselves by delivering predictable, transformative results on a global scale. Across financial services, logistics, insurance, banking, and beyond, the impact is consistent: faster loan and tax-form processing, stronger Know Your Customer (KYC) and identity verification, digitized waybills and bills of lading, and smarter invoice processing.
The clearest proof of value comes from the businesses that rely on ABBYY Document AI every day:

The AI Breakthrough Awards is an annual program run by AI Breakthrough, a leading global market intelligence organization. It recognizes the most innovative products and companies in the global AI industry across categories including machine learning, natural language processing, generative AI, computer vision, AI infrastructure, robotics, and more. The program draws thousands of nominations from companies around the world and evaluates each entry on criteria such as innovation, performance, functionality, market impact, and value.
Yes. ABBYY Document AI supports a hybrid approach that combines purpose-built, deterministic AI with large language models (LLMs) and generative AI (GenAI). Where certainty is required, ABBYY applies precise, deterministic extraction. Where flexibility is needed, such as for contextual reasoning or summarization, it brings in LLM-based capabilities. Both work together within a single governed pipeline, so enterprises can adopt generative AI without compromising governance, data integrity, or accuracy.
ABBYY Document AI serves a broad range of industries where document-heavy processes are common. These include banking and financial services, Know Your Customer (KYC) and compliance, insurance, transportation and logistics, and finance and accounting. Globally deployed across more than 200 languages, ABBYY Document AI adapts to the document diversity and volume demands of mission-critical operations at enterprise scale.
